The ability to react concerns the fast and appropriate decision making and acting based on seeing, hearing and feeling.
You have to be able to respond as a defender to an attacker with the ball making sham movements but also as an attacker with the ball responding to what the defender does. and this without you having to think about it.

The ability to react can be trained with the emergence of an expected or an unexpected signal in practice tasks. Games are highly suitable to train the ability to react such as tabletennis, badminton and baseball.
The responsiveness has a sensitive period for boys and girls aged 8 and 9 years
Tips for drills
- Mirroring or shadow run: imitating the runner in front of you
- Games: table tennis, badminton, peanut ball or dodge ball
- Reaction games with auditive, tactile or visual cues
- Sports: table tennis, beach tennis, badminton, speedminton, volleybal, softball, beach cricket, squash, taekwondo, football, fencing, tag games, dodge ball, air hockey and handball.
- Use a small trampoline for shooting, throwing and catcing
- Unorganized or organized goalkeeping in foorball, handball, water polo or hockey
- Change positions on commands
- Sports: table tennis, rugby, cricket, baseball, badminton, squash, ice hockey, American football and martial arts
- Games: tag games, dodge ball and air hockey
- Boxing with focus on technical skills (P3)
