Balancing and falling

Omschrijving

Balancing is about maintaining and restoring balance. This can be done on an unstable surface, in the air, but also during movement on unstable material (rolling and sliding). In all movements there is a motor equilibrium. This is particularly the case with all forms of rotating (rotational balance) and jumping (flight balance).

In all sport specific and other movements we need some form of balance. This is mostly true for all forms of turning (rotating balance), cutting, (sudden change of the angle of direction), jumping, (flight or air balance) and climbing or swinging (hanging balance).

Poor balance ability and falling have a high correlation. If you dare to fall, you can make different choices in the process of balancing in different situations. The skill of breaking a fall, with parts of the body, is an important aspect of falling technique. When you practice balance you must also learn how to fall. It is important to practice falling in different positions, for example, sliding with feet first or head first.
