Fade cut

When a shooter uses a down screen in a basketball game, there are several different types of cuts that they can use to get open. The way that the shooter determines what cut to use is by reading the defender. If the defender goes under the screen then you can use what is called a fade cut. Being able to shoot at a high percentage has a lot to do footwork and getting into your shot the correct way.
