Rotation

When a defender is defeated by the penetration of his man, help will be needed from someone who is in the help side. This defender leaves his man to be able to catch the attacker who is penetrating. In principle, this help always comes from the weak side, so that the defense turns against the direction of penetration, as it were. That is why this is called a ‘rotation’.
