Eye-hand coordination

Omschrijving
To catch a ball the eyes and hands must work together. This is called eye-hand coordination: alignment of actions manually performed on what is perceived by the eyes and vice versa. If eye-hand coordination is sufficiently developed, a child can catch, throw and aim, skills that are important in basketball. When catching with two hands is mastered, the player learns to catch with one hand.
The development of eye-hand coordination begins playfully at a young age. At that moment, it’s the hands that steer the eyes: first, the child feels an object and then focuses his or her eyes on it. By stimulating the child to play with a ball, the development of eye-hand coordination can be stimulated.
Leerpunten
- Kids have to learn to react with their hands when they see something, so if they see a ball coming they should stick their hands out to catch the ball.
