Omschrijving

Defending the attacker in triple threat position

The stance that the defender assumes against an attacker in triple-threat is called the ‘ready-stance’. Triple threat means threefold threat. The attacker can pass, dribble or shoot when he has received the ball.

Starting posture of the ‘ready stance’:

  • The defender stands at arm’s length from the attacker.
  • The front hand points to the ball and follows it; the fingers are spread, while the palm is facing forward.
  • The back hand is at shoulder height; the fingers are staggered and pointing upwards, the palm of the hand is pointing forward; provoke a slow pass.

Teach how to defend an attacker in a triple threat position

  • The attacker brings the ball slowly in different positions; the defender follows the ball with his hand (tracing).
  • The defender is about 1.5 meters from his attacker, who keeps the ball hidden behind his back;
  • At the moment, when the ball is visible to the defender and the attacker has hit the ball, the defender approaches with some aggressive steps and follows the ball with the foremost hand for five seconds;
  • Hereafter, the attacker brings the ball back and the defender distances himself.
  • Idem, after a pass; at the moment that the ball is on its way, the defender approaches his attacker with aggressive strides; after about five seconds the ball is played back under pressure from the defender.

Leerpunten

  2. Agressive towards player (close out / tapping)
  3. Hands: 1 hand low at the ball, 1 hand high preventing the pass
