Omschrijving
Pivoting is moving the foot in all directions after catching or stopping the ball while the other foot is remaining on the floor.
A player may move a foot in all directions after stopping. The other foot (pivot foot) must remain on the floor and may not be moved. A player must always know what his pivot foot is. A pivot can be made in all directions. Without turning the body sideways, forward and backwards.
When to perform a pivot
- To protect the ball
- To give a pass in another direction
- At the start of a dribble
- Improve the position for dribble, pass or shot
- In a fake
Reverse pivot
When the player moves his body in reverse direction during a pivot movement it’s called a reverse privot.
