Throwing and catching

Omschrijving
You get ball skills with your hands by dribbling, rolling, stopping, catching, aiming or striking. Throwing and catching are additional skills, but they differ quite a bit in terms of their movement focus.
When catching, the body checks a ball or object and entrusts the player with the ability of the eyes to follow the ball and get it into the hands. Throwing means that a ball is driven away from the body and directed at a target (basket or player). Both skills are inextricably linked and therefore need to be jointly practiced.
Throwing and catching small balls differs from hrowing larger balls. The throwing and catching skills include: overhand, underhand, rolling.
Momentum: bring the throwing arm as far back as possible with the weight on the back foot. More power is transferred to a ball when it leaves your hand while you bring the arm forward smoothly (in a swinging motion) and the weight is moved to the front foot.
Speed: how right your arm is extended in the forward swing, the greater the force and thus the faster the ball will go.
Absorption of power: to absorb the power of the ball when catching a ball, reach for the ball with your hands, spread your fingers or cup your hands together and bring the ball to your body.
Balance: to catch or receive a ball, your body must stand behind the line of the ball and your body must be in balance (stance).
