Drop Step
Laatst gewijzigd 14 november 2017
Omschrijving
The drop step is a way for the post player to move to the rim after receiving the ball at the bucket without dribbling along the baseline:
- The player receives the ball with his back to the basket.
- He takes a step backward next to the defender on the side of the baseline. The step is in the direction of the basket, so that the defender comes in the back.
- He places a jumpshot close to the basket.
Drop step dribble
If the ball is further away from the basket, a dribble will be needed to get closer to the basket along the baseline.
- At the same time as the step to the basket, a dribble is placed next to this foot
- The player takes off on this foot
- Takes the ball in his jump
- He ends with a jumpstop under the basket, feet parallel to the baseline to keep the defender in the back.
Leerpunten
- Stay low when you do the cross step or the open step
- Always keep your body between the ball and the defender
- Always step forward and take your first step next to or past the defender, not before.
- Put your defender on the wrong track by first making an open step to one side, pivoting back and your first dribble a cross step to the other side
