Passing the ball
Passing is throwing a ball to a teammate with the goal of getting the ball into a scoring position.
How to perform a pass:
- Thumbs behind the ball
- Knees slightly bent
- Elbows point backwards
- The ball is thrown with two hands at the same time (or sometimes with one hand) in the direction of the other player
- At the end of the action, the palms face out and the thumbs down
- The pass is supported by stepping forward with one foot during the pass, giving the ball more speed.
Catching the ball
Catching the ball is usually done with two hands, sometimes with one hand. The ball is caught after a pass or after a rebound.
Learn how to catch the ball
- Always expect the ball!
- Keep the eyes focused on the approaching ball
- Extend the arms to “meet” the ball, wrists bent backwards, fingers spread out and pointing forwards.
- If the ball is in the hands, reduce the speed by bending the arms
- In the case of hard balls, a foot can be put forward and placed back during catching.
- If the ball is caught, both thumbs are placed behind the ball.
