Open Step

Laatst gewijzigd 29 oktober 2017

Omschrijving

An open step is made from the triple threat position. The player with the ball wants to dribble right alongside the defender and passes right footed to the right and dribbles past the defender. See cross over step.

If an open step is used as a diversion, so without dribbling, we call this a jabstep.

Teaching the open step

  • In a 1-v-1 situation
  • With a passive defender, change it to an active defender after a while
  • Different positions on the field

Leerpunten

  1. Stay low
  2. Keep your body in between the ball and the defender
  3. Step forward and set your first stap next or past the defender, not in front of the defender
  4. Fool your defender by making an open step one way, pivoting back and dribbling the other way
